Atlantic Coast

In the Atlantic Coast, you will find history and a colorful view. You can visit the monumental Castle of San Felipe, a bastion that was constructed to defend our ports from pirate ships. In 1595, King Philip II of Spain, decided to build the Sande Tower.

The pirates intensified their attacks and destroy the Fort several times. Finally, in 1651 Judge Lara y Mogrovejo rebuilt the fort calling it San Felipe de Lara in honor of King and himself.

In the Caribbean you will find too the bridge of Rio Dulce, one of the modern architectonic marvels of Central America. Izabal is a destination where paradise, history and adventure all came together.
